BOOK A CALL

Permission to Take a Break

Palm trees and a camper van at the ocean on the coast of California.

I'm a day late with my blog this week and that's because I had decided to take a break.

I wasn't going to write because I've been reducing my screen time a little bit, living more in the real world, and just wasn't feeling inspired.

But... by taking the break, I all of a sudden got a poof of inspiration!

Inspiration to grant you the permission to take a break. I mean, let's call it encouragement because you don't need permission from me or anybody to do anything.

Feeling run down? Sleep.

Tired of replying to emails or DMs? You don't need to right away.

Want to sit on the couch or do something fun instead of work? I vote for fun!

Of course we have responsibilities and obligations, and I'm not encouraging you to just ditch those.

I'm encouraging you to allow yourself to break free from always feeling like you have to be doing something, have to be productive, have to be moving.

Rest is just as important as productivity.

Eating junk is just as important as eating healthy (sometimes).

Having fun is more important than work! (I said what I said lol).

We're too conditioned to feel like if we aren't doing something "productive" (making money, working on ourselves, cleaning, cooking, etc etc etc), then we're just wasting time.

But time spent staring into space isn't wasted.

Time reflecting creates space for constructive criticism and new ideas.

Time resting allows your muscles to heal and grow.

Time in nature allows your mind to evolve.

Time on the couch allows you to unwind.

Time eating junk food allows you to appreciate how good you feel when you're sticking with the healthy stuff.

Time in the real world allows you to remember you're human.

And the real world has so much to offer.

I feel myself being so disconnected sometimes. I'm in the world of the internet and forget that there's a whole universe to be explored.

I'll look for conversation in DM and avoid eye contact with someone on the street.

I watch adventure videos but hesitate to adventure.

I have a list of things that I could explore, but scrolling takes over far too often.

Disconnect. Reconnect. Do whatever your heart desires.

...and it might not be until you take a break from all of the "shoulds" and "too busy" that you discover what you truly want and need to recharge for when you return to your productivity.
